Reduction of Bulkwave Generation in CMUTS

Stanford Reference:

01-170

Abstract

Improvements in the performance of capacitive micromachined ultrasonic transducers are attained by the reduction of bulk acoustic wave generation. This invention describes several techniques for reducing the magnitude and coherency of bulk wave generation, applicable to 1-D and 2-D arrays of cMUTs for ultrasonic imaging applications.

Applications

  • Acoustic Imaging
  • Ultrasound Imaging
  • Ultrasonic Testing
  • Ultrasonic Transducers

Advantages

  • Cleaner Signal
  • Increased Dynamic Range
  • Larger Signal-to-Noise Ratio
  • Higher Resolution
  • Improved Image Quality
